Having spent 5 years on the design and used just as many architects for the renovation of our period home, the next challenge was to find a builder who would interpret the design and deliver the complete solution, not just 95% complete and not leaving us to find other trades to finish the project. Our design is truly unique as we have a late 1920s house and live in a heritage overlay area where it is necessary to maintain the streetscape: however we wanted to live in a modern home. The transition from period to modern was accomplished through attention to detail, consultation and considerable building skill.

We looked at many builders from the large and well known to the small single project builders and the best quality and value we saw was Darren Bailey Builders. With all building projects most competent builders can do the job, but the finishing details and communication with the owners makes the difference between acceptable and outstanding and we could not be happier with the result. As an engineer myself I pay attention to detail and even the smallest items were completed such that they will last the test of time.

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found Darren to build our home and are thrilled with the finished product. Even now, well after the project is complete he helps with any maintenance issues we have as a result of our boisterous family of children and dogs or the occasional accident or alteration. We have no hesitation in recommending Darren Bailey Builders to you, our friends and our family.

Having used Darren Bailey Builders on three prior occasions we weren’t surprised as to how well our renovation was managed and completed.

On this occasion Darren completely restored, renovated and extended our 1893 Victorian home in Canterbury, Victoria.

Darren’s fastidious attention to detail meant the integration between the existing Victorian home and the new extension is seamless.

We were also pleased to discover that Darren’s team of dedicated trades people and sub contractors were the same team from each of our prior renovations spanning 13 years.

Our project was completed on time despite several unpredicted challenging issues and on budget (apart from extras we couldn’t help adding in – like our new wine cellar).

Apologies for the lateness of this letter, but we would like to thank you very much for the recent renovation you and your team did to our house at 8 Queen St Surrey Hills.

Your professionalism in managing and organising the project was excellent, as were your network of tradesmen.  Particular thanks goes to Mattee and the team who worked diligently over the 9 months.

Please pass on our thanks to Harry the plasterer who spent many hours putting up those huge cornices.  To Luke the electrician, who I am sure I drove mad with my indecisiveness at times.  Also special thanks to the Leo team, for the excellent painting job and their friendly manner.  Thanks also to Frank the tiler and Rod the plumber.

Having been back in the house for over 3 months, we are extremely happy with the result, and are thoroughly enjoying the space.
